Covering: Carlisle, Penrith, Keswick, Workington, Whitehaven, Cockermouth and the rest of the CA postcode area.
The local landmark: Carlisle Castle and the western stretches of Hadrian's Wall mark England's border country.
Students: The University of Cumbria has a campus at Fusehill Street in Carlisle.
On the ground: Red sandstone terraces in Carlisle are straightforward, but Lakeland cottages and farm addresses can sit down long single track lanes. If carrying is the hard part, Assisted from £349 brings us inside, with a two-person crew when furniture or bikes are aboard (£15 per end for 2nd or 3rd floor with no lift, £30 for 4th and up).
Who makes this move: Remote workers and retirees heading for the Lake District, students arriving for the University of Cumbria, and young people leaving for London careers.
While you wait for the van: Graphite discovered in Borrowdale in the 1500s led to the world's first pencils being made near Keswick.
