Covering: Lancaster, Morecambe, Kendal, Windermere, Ambleside, Ulverston, Barrow-in-Furness and the rest of the LA postcode area.
The local landmark: Lancaster Castle served as a working prison until 2011, and England's largest lake, Windermere, also sits inside the LA postcode area.
Students: Lancaster University's collegiate campus at Bailrigg lies just south of the city, and the University of Cumbria has bases in Lancaster and Ambleside.
On the ground: Stone terraces in Lancaster and Morecambe, Lakeland cottages up narrow fell roads, and heavy visitor traffic around Windermere in summer. If carrying is the hard part, Assisted from £349 brings us inside, with a two-person crew when furniture or bikes are aboard (£15 per end for 2nd or 3rd floor with no lift, £30 for 4th and up).
Who makes this move: Students bound for Lancaster's campus share the lane with retirees and remote workers heading for the Lakes, plus graduates returning south.
While you wait for the van: Comedian Eric Morecambe took his stage name from the resort, and his statue on the seafront was unveiled by the Queen in 1999.
