Covering: Lincoln, Louth, Horncastle, Market Rasen, Woodhall Spa, Mablethorpe and the rest of the LN postcode area.
The local landmark: Lincoln Cathedral and the castle opposite, which holds one of the four surviving 1215 copies of Magna Carta, crown the city's hilltop.
Students: The University of Lincoln's Brayford Pool campus has turned the lower city into a student quarter, with the smaller Bishop Grosseteste University uphill.
On the ground: Lincoln's terraces climb a genuinely steep hill, while the rest of the area is market-town streets and flat fenland lanes. If carrying is the hard part, Assisted from £349 brings us inside, with a two-person crew when furniture or bikes are aboard (£15 per end for 2nd or 3rd floor with no lift, £30 for 4th and up).
Who makes this move: Students arrive for the Brayford campus while Lincolnshire graduates make the reverse move to London for work.
While you wait for the van: Lincoln Cathedral was reputedly the tallest building in the world for over two centuries until its central spire fell in 1548.
