Covering: Salisbury, Andover, Amesbury, Shaftesbury, Fordingbridge, Tidworth and the rest of the SP postcode area.
The local landmark: Salisbury Cathedral carries the tallest church spire in Britain, with Stonehenge standing a few miles north near Amesbury.
On the ground: Townhouses and chequer-pattern terraces in Salisbury give way to garrison housing around Tidworth and thatched villages down single-track lanes. If carrying is the hard part, Assisted from £349 brings us inside, with a two-person crew when furniture or bikes are aboard (£15 per end for 2nd or 3rd floor with no lift, £30 for 4th and up).
Who makes this move: Army postings around the Tidworth and Larkhill garrisons keep belongings moving both ways, alongside Andover commuters and retirees leaving London for the Wiltshire countryside.
While you wait for the van: Salisbury Cathedral holds the best preserved of the four surviving original copies of the 1215 Magna Carta.
